Disclaimer Agreement for all Job Seekers (Students and Alumni) Accessing the Job Postings:
Niagara College does not pre-screen employers who post their opportunities via our MyCareer job board or endorse their products and/or services. Applicants submitting resumes for any MyCareer job postings are responsible for their own due diligence: ascertaining and verifying terms and conditions of employment including the following: the nature of the work, work environment, WSIB coverage or alternative insurance coverage, duration of employment, the amount and type of remuneration (salary, hourly wage, commission or contract), schedule of payment, benefits, reputation of the employer and any cost to the employee associated with the employment (i.e.: purchase of sales kits, equipment, travel expenses, car insurance, etc.).
Always research the company where the job is posted to ensure its legitimacy and please be aware of the following red flags:
- An employer offers you a position without going through a formal interview process
- An employer requests that you accept and/or provide a monetary transaction (Bitcoin, MoneyGram, etc.)
- A job offer from an employer promises extraordinarily high pay for minimal work or no prior experience
- An employer requests your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and/or bank account information during the application and interview process (personal details should only be provided to the employer once you have secured the position)
- You receive a job offer for an opportunity in which you didn't apply to
- The role expectations differ from the position details that were provided in the posting
If you think you are a victim of a job scam, please report the details to The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre: www.antifraudcentre.ca, contact your local police department and notify our NC Career Services Team: nccareerservices@niagaracollege.ca.
